Utopia Poetry
UTOPIA
As beautiful as the famed city of Atlantis Gloriously flourishing in her perfection There is a place where my soul and heart is A perfect place without grief or deception A place where my heart is always merry Where peace blossoms like the cherry The sun smiles at me gently caressing My body as the birds sing beautiful melodies Melodies which keep me guessing The beauty of future melodic memories Like the Cedars of Lebanon Beautifying the palaces of Ethiopia Purity, love and perfection adorn her every season. This place is within me; this place is Utopia Ozioma Ogbaji Apr 2015 |
My Utopia
Everyone engaged, everyone enthralled in the prospects of experiences Listening to others, exploring possibilities, Determining destinies in the presence of consciousness No qualms or quips, only acceptance of the discovery of knowledge, the chance to pursue all that can be accomplished given full freedom to learn. utopia?
for there to be a total and complete utopia that benefits all it would be an equal and bland life.
life without emotions that could potentially start conflict.
life without diversity to avoid the confrontations of opinions.
life without memories so we cant compare the past to the present.
life where no rules are ever broken.
life where love is treated just as pain so they exclude them from our lives.
life where music wasn't used to express ourselves.
life where your opinion is forbidden.
a life of mystery , more than there are today.
so a utopia that would be settle for everyone to be equal, and fair would be no utopia at all.
*we would all be faint echos of life.
Note: I understand that everyone has their own personal perception of a utopia. but if you think about it . if we were to live in the same utopia, it would have to be a bland and emotionless life to avoid conflict and keep peace.

Utopia
In a perfect world, I could hide my scars until they finally soften and fade, and then the t-shirts could adorn my shoulders just like they did before. I could speak my mind with no resistance, and I would not worry about another's opinions because all that would matter would be me and my thoughts. But this is not Utopia and my scars are still here, and they burn searing red for so long that it's too much to hide, and I slip up and I wear short sleeves. And I constantly fear of what others will think, with scenes in my head sending me over the edge into a place where my thoughts can kill, and I'm not in Utopia at all. Nicole Walsh, Apr 2013 |
Frenetic Genetics
Genetic engineering’s here to stay Possibilities are endless, scientists say: Men mixed with anything we can find: Oak trees, wasps, ants and elephants combined. Satanic horror armies sweep their enemies away And Frankenstein’s monster’s little but child’s play Compared with these. Yet with Good intent, And wisdom heaven sent, Utopia or Paradise could be on its way: Bumper bug-free harvests every day, Giant fruit and docile, friendly beasts. Food for all, and endless feasts. All manner of Good Or Evil Is within Our grasp. It’s down to us. Paul Butters, Jan 2011 |
